When the Human Resources department is creating or updating the company’s employee benefits package, there are many options he or she has at their disposal, such as scheduled pay raises, vacation, and employee programs and services. Companies that offer their staff extras in the form of programs and services, tend to have happier employees who have higher productivity rates. This is because when employees feel appreciated, they work harder.
There are several programs and services the HR department can include in the plan like social programs, company paid wellness programs, uniform services, assigned and EOM (Employee of the Month) parking, childcare services, discount legal and financial services, and even food programs/services.
Social programs – This can be as simple as offering the opportunity for staff to join in things like company golf, baseball, bowling, or other team sports in competition. Also, company sponsored events such as picnics, holiday dinners, or birthday lunched in the office are also great options.
Company paid wellness programs – Today, many people are gaining a great concern for their health and wellbeing. Therefore, having a wellness program paid for by the company is a way to show employees that they matter and in return the company has healthier staff members with less time off. This is a win-win.
Uniform services – The HR manager can offer the staff uniforms taken care of by the business as a means to improve productivity as well. This is because it removes the concern of purchasing new appropriate attire each year as well as the upkeep of the clothing.
Assigned and EOM (Employee Of The Month) parking – This just makes the staff meet appreciated and is a way for the HR department to recognize staff members that have performed extremely well.
These are just a drop in the bucket as far as what the HR department can include in the employee benefits package under employee program and services. What is actually included all depends on the company’s budget and staff size.
