Employee Engagement, Recruitment

In order for any business to be successful, there must be a supply of reliable and productive workforce. This is the duty of the entire Human Resource department. The HR manager must ensure they are hiring the best candidate for the position. There are several methods in doing so, for example, identifying the best source of workers like agencies, temporary, advertising, referrals, or others. Also, inter-company promotions and proper interviews will assist in hiring the best workforce.

Workforce Sources

Agencies: There are public and private workforce agencies. When hiring from them, the advantages is that most of the workers have been tested and their skills proven. Also, if he or she turns out to be a good batch for the company, they can be hired permanently and if not, replaced by another worker.

  • Temporary: Temporary workers are similar to agency works, but the HR department hires them directly.
  • Advertising: When advertising for a position, the HR manager need to be sure the position requirements and the mandatory requirements are included. This will help to cut down on unqualified applicants.
  • Referrals: Referrals can be a great source for a qualified workforce. This is due to people having an idea of their friends and family’s skill sets.
  • Others: Other workforce sources are: walk-in individuals, faxed, emailed, or mailed resumes, colleges and universities, past employees that were leadoff for company related issues, not poor performance issues.

The HR department has a great many options when deciding on where to look for their next hires. There must be a clear definition of the job position and what the department heads or managers are looking for. With this information, it will be easier to choose on a workforce pool. However, he or she must make sure to choose the best option for the company’s needs, as well.
