Hi there! My name is Todd Bavol and I’d like to welcome you to my brand new HR Ninja blog! With all the most up-to-date and relevant information for the HR professional of today, the HR Ninja blog will be THE place to visit and will focus on all the key HR related issues which are currently impacting the profession.
For anyone who hasn’t come across my work before, what you can expect is information based on many years of experience in the staffing and careers industries, set out in what I hope you will find to be a very easy-to-read, fun and informative style. I love to hear from my readers, so please feel free to drop me a line at any time, and especially please let me know if there are particular topics that you would like me to cover in future posts – if they are relevant to you, then the chances are that they are relevant to many others too!
Although some of the posts that you will read will be ‘one-offs’, I often like to include little mini-series on subjects which require a bit more depth, and I hope that these will provide added value.
So, what can you expect to see covered in forthcoming articles? Here are just a few of the areas that I will be looking at:
- Employee engagement
- Interviewing skills and candidate selection
- Employment law
- Succession planning
- Staff sourcing
- Assessment tools
- HR software
- Background checking
- Multi-generational workforces
As the overall state of the job market is so fundamental in terms of both the number and the quality of candidates available, I am going to kick off in my next post from what seems a pretty logical starting place – a mini-series which looks at the government’s employment statistics, what they really mean and how the numbers and the attitudes that they create affect those in the HR profession. From there, I will go on to consider the red hot topic of employee engagement, an area which is causing companies in the US to lose literally hundreds of billions of dollars every year, and the very much overlooked but increasingly important subject of background checking. Just what are the different levels of background check and what are the risks of carrying out an incomplete one or of failing to check your company’s suppliers or contractors?
So, leaving you with a hint of what’s to come, I look forward to seeing you back here very soon!
